About HK Tech Scene

HK Tech Scene brings together what's on this week, who is building what, who funds it, and how to get started. Hong Kong's tech information is spread across science parks, event platforms, investor sites and word of mouth; this site puts the public parts in one place.

It is non-commercial and not affiliated with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Cyberport, Luma or the HKSAR Government.

Where the data comes from

• Companies: the HKSTP company directory, published as open data on DATA.GOV.HK. Cyberport publishes only statistics, not a company list, so Cyberport members come from our own research into award winners, programme and delegation announcements and press coverage. Hong Kong start-ups fromY Combinator's directory and a hand-picked list of independent Hong Kong scale-ups fill in the rest, plus community submissions. Each company page says where its record came from and whether it has been checked by hand.
• Events: public Luma calendars and Meetup groups of Hong Kong tech communities (through their official calendar subscription feeds), the HKSTP events open data feed, and community submissions.
• Investors, places and guides: written by hand from InvestHK's StartmeupHK directory, each organisation's own website and official government pages, which are linked on every record.
