Tech hubs and coworking spaces

Where Hong Kong tech actually happens, from the science parks and InnoParks to coworking spaces in the city.

Last reviewed 6 Oct 2026

Hong Kong’s tech scene is spread across a few big hubs and a lot of city-centre coworking. Every place below is on the map with its address.

The big hubs

Hong Kong Science Park (Pak Shek Kok, near Sha Tin and Tai Po) is HKSTP’s main R&D campus. It hosts companies in ICT, electronics, biomedical technology, green tech and materials, plus research labs. Incubatees get subsidised space here or at InnoCentre.

InnoCentre (72 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong) is HKSTP’s site in the city, and incubatees can be based here instead of Science Park. CityU, HKBU and the Hong Kong Productivity Council are a short walk away.

Cyberport (Telegraph Bay, Pok Fu Lam) is the hub for digital tech: fintech, Web3, AI and digital entertainment. It hosts the Cyberport incubation programmes and many tech events.

The InnoParks in Tai Po, Tseung Kwan O and Yuen Long are HKSTP’s industrial estates, aimed at manufacturing and other large-scale facilities rather than desk-based startups.

Universities

HKUST (Clear Water Bay), HKU (Pok Fu Lam), CUHK (Sha Tin), PolyU (Hung Hom), CityU and HKBU (both Kowloon Tong) each run entrepreneurship programmes and host public talks and demo days. Many events are open to non-students; check the events page. University programmes are listed in the incubators guide.

Coworking in the city

If you don’t need lab space, a coworking membership in the city is usually the cheapest way to sit near other founders. A few with tech communities:

  • the Hive Wan Chai: hot desks and private offices on Luard Road, part of a regional coworking network.
  • Base: hot desks, dedicated desks and private offices in Sheung Wan, Wan Chai and Kwun Tong, among others.

Many coworking spaces host meetups in the evenings, which is where a lot of the community happens. The communities guide lists the groups behind them.

Choosing where to base yourself

  • Need labs, equipment or subsidised rent? Apply to an HKSTP or Cyberport programme; the space comes with it.
  • Selling to banks and finance? Central, Sheung Wan, Wan Chai and Cyberport are closest to your customers.
  • Hiring engineers? Being near a university (Kowloon Tong, Clear Water Bay, Sha Tin) helps with interns and graduates.
  • Just starting? A flexible coworking plan keeps costs low while you work out where your customers are.
